Windows 10: Repair WHS 2011 OS

Hi CommunityMy WHS 2011 box is running out of space for the C: partition 60GB. I already moved the pagefile.sys from C: to D: on the SSD. This has helped a little. Unfortunately in my pursuit of free space, I removed some necessary files using Disk Cleanup unintentionally.1. Please let me know available options to restore these files.2. For a long term fix, I need to increase size of C: partition. First I need to move the start of D: partition to the right to provide unallocated space to the right of C: partition. Then expand C: partition to include this unallocated space. My Internet

In search of hotfix for WHS 2011

I've been running WHS 2011 to backup my system for a number of years w/o any issues. I recently built a new W10 system and added that and it was working just fine. However I decided to add OPTANE to speed up my data drive which meant I also needed to convert my system & data drive from MBR to GPT. All that got pulled off just fine and the system is working great. However I now apparently need to apply an older hotfix to the WHS 2011 server to support backing up GPT partitions and I am unable to locate it anywhere as it's no longer on the Microsoft support site and the KB article results in a 404.

Any download links from other references result in a timeout so I'm guessing it's long gone. I've done some poking around but haven't had any luck in locating an alternative source and it seems like all the old WHS support forums have gone bye-bye so I'm looking for suggestions (preferably other than moving off WHS 2011.)

 

Zune Software on my Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011 cannot detect my Samsung Focus

• Zune Software is working fine
• In Device Manager in WHS 2011, Samsung Focus is correctly recognized as the
  Windows Phone USB device with the driver version of 4.7.965.0.

I guess there must be some services not started in WHS 2011 that prevents it from being detected in Zune.



P.S. I know MS does not officialy support Zune Software running on WHS 2011. But I do want everything to work correctly for Zune Software and my Samsung Focus.

 

In search of hotfix for WHS 2011

Your WHS 2011 was 3 years old when the test version of Windows 10 came out so it's quite possible for some programs to be discontinued rather than spend the resources needed for keeping up with new OSes. A couple of cases in point, DayTimers DTO 2000 Organizer program and the popular Classic Shell start menu which finally was released to Open Source for others to work on. Also involved is the total lack of support for 16-bit programs in Win10 although I have one program for our church library that will run if NOT using the installer it comes with.
