Repair windows through USB recovery shows errors

Hi, recently I've cleaned my pc, reinstalling the ssdwhich contains the OS and the hdd the result is that initially the hdd doesn't appear, then win 10 fails to load.

Initially I fixed this by restoring a recovery point up to a software I unistalled days before.

Now I had to remove again the hard drives and the problem showed up again, but now Win 10 won't boot, the self repair end up to black screen and can't access WinRe to restore the pc to a recovery point I've prepared yesterday.

I'm trying to use the windows recovery tool installed in my USB drive but runs very badly and isn't really responsive so I'm having problems surfing the winre from the USB.

    Update:

System restore from the USB recovery just show an error asking me to restart the pc, select an OS and then System Restore.

    System

    Intel core 6700k

    Msi z170A

    Msi Gtx1080

    :)

    2004 update windows 10 error 0x80070002

    Hello everyone,

thanks to some of the suggestions here and to some from other sources I have managed to fix the 0x80070002 error breaking up my feature update to 2004.

For completeness' sake and since it may help others, the following steps worked for me.

    1. Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website
    2. Create a bootable USB drive with the MCT
    3. Boot up from this USB Drive
    4. Choose install settings, click 'Next', but on the next screen select "Repair your computer" instead of "Install"
    5. Choose "Troubleshoot" -> "Startup Repair" and let it finish
    6. Restart into Windows and attempt the usual Windows update
It looks like the BCD on my computer had been damaged by the boot loader (Windows 10 + Recovery partition) and running the "Startup Repair" from the installation USB Drive corrected the errors.

Windows 10 recovery USB - which size???

Not even that. What creating a recovery drive does (if you select 'include system files') is to construct the files required to clean install Windows. If this is made on an OEM install these file will include the OEM custom apps and drivers - effectively a 'factory reset' drive. It is extracting an install image from your existing system files that takes the time.

The steps in making a recovery drive are shown in this tutorial...

Create Recovery Drive in Windows 10 | Tutorials

    • first you choose whether or not to include system files (step 5 in tutorial)
    • next the recovery drive files are constructed (this can take a long time if you include system files)
    • only after that is complete will you be asked which usb to use (step 6 in tutorial). At this point you will be told how large a usb you need.

Without system files 512 Mb is sufficient. Including system files it will be just over 4GB.

At which step did you get the error? If you were not asked which usb to use then it was the construction of the system files that failed, nothing to do with what usb you had.
