Windows 10: Repairing windows mft

I am running a dual boot of Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04. I needed more space in my Ubuntu partition, so using windows disk tools I tried to shrink my windows partition. I couldn't shrink it any further due to the NTFS NFT being installed halfway along the drive and being unable to be moved. I read online the PerfectDisk is able to move this with its boot time defrag, and so I tried to do that. I know that the MFT is one of the most sensitive parts of the whole OS so I was very careful with my setup and how I performed it, and even backed up anything important.However halfway through I had a po

Location of MFT and MFT Zone

Hi,

when system starts, ntfs.sys driver tries to allocate MFT zone just after last MFT fragment. If this is impossible MFT zone is located in any suitable place on disk.

Please note, MFT zone have no physical representation in file system terms, it exists only due ntfs.sys attempts to optimize possible MFT increasing.

I am using an HP Laptop running Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 1909 recently updated..

I use Raxco Perfect Disc 14 Professional to defrag my hard disc drive and note that recently the visual display of the Hard Drive Blocks which it provides show that the MFT Blocks are no longer adjoined by the MFT Zone.

Should it be the case that the MFT Blocks should precede the MFT Zone (which I assume is free space for MFT to expand without fragmentation.

Do I have a problem with my Windows 10.

Recover NTFS MFT.

Hello....




well for some reson my MFT became corrupt on my encrypted Raid 0 array,


now i know for a fact the files are still there as i can recover them using a recovery utility... the problem is there is 2TB of data that i cant copy from the array and put back, what i need to do is repair/fix the MFT.

does anyone know of a program that can do this?
