Windows 10: Repeated issues with Deskjet 2620 printer

My family has had an issue with our HP Deskjet 2620 printer for scanning our documents. Yesterday, a relative of mine was supposed to scan and submit documents but the scanner refused to work. This was puzzling as I had been the one to set it up; I had checked the cables, and the power outlet, and I launched the app with little to no difficulty, I had access to the 'scan' option with the belief things would go smoothly for them later. There were no error messages or freezing of the screen, only prolonged loading. This isn't the first time the printer has failed to open the scanner function; a year or so back it had updated to the app without our knowledge away from the CD-installed program we used to use. Is there a way to resolve this issue and allow us to monitor the software to avoid such things repeating?

I suggest you to run Printer troubleshooter. Follow the steps.

• Type Troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.
• In the left pane click on View all.
  
• Select the Printer option and follow the on screen instructions.
