  1. Repeated Windows 10 Update BSOD

Windows 10 Update starts to install without warning. After the second time it resulted in a BSOD, requiring Microsoft to repair the install, I set the update setting to not attempt any more updates until the 28th February 2021. Today, on the 12th February I found myself back in that same situation. It is ignoring my instruction.

The hardware is a near-new laptop, Acer Aspire 7. I note that it offers the possibility of manually updating drivers and quality features. Since I have no idea why it failed, how do I know what I need to do.

I have been computing since the early 1980s and never met such a mess before. How should I tackle this?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
