  2. Windows 11 CPU Compatibility

The Windows 11 update recently became available on my system, but when I opened the PC Health Check app it told me my CPU was not compatible with the update. Following up, I saw that the minimum hardware requirements are at least two cores and 1 GHz speed, and that it has to be on the list of approved processors. My CPU has 8 cores and 3.5 GHz base speed, so it's well in excess of the hardware requirements, but it's not on the list. Is this list going to be expanded in the future? I don't want to replace my motherboard just to run Windows 11 when I already have a great piece of equipment.

My processor is an AMD FX(tm)-8320 8-core processor. Thanks in advance.

    windows 11 cpu support

    Hi, Watsondedh!

Windows 11 currently supports these Intel(R) processors. According to your current CPU model - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U which is not listed here so, your processor might not be able to run Windows 11. You should consider upgrading to a newer system or replacing your CPU with one of these latest generation of Intel(R) processors. Thank you!

You can check this list for Windows 11 supported processors:
