  1. Replacement of WIFI Adapter

Recently I have transitioned to a WPA3 Router in my household. Yet I couldnt seem to connect to the router despite multiple attempts and videos. I had discovered my computer is using a IntelR Dual band wireless-AC 3168 driver, which reached EOL recently, and does not support WPA3. Im attempting to uninstall it for the sake of installing a newer driver that is WPA3 compatible, but it doesnt seem to replace the existing drivers. Even with disabling the internet, and my PC's automatic driver downloads, each time I delete the driver and restart my computer, it still reinstalls and keeps the issu

  2. WiFi Adapter question

To be honest, I keep losing my wifi connection and Im almost positive its not due to my internet connection or Router or anything like that. VERY often, everyday, all day it keeps happening. The troubleshooter always resolves it by "reset wifi-adapter" (I believe this is the step it takes that resolves the problem) before it happens again anyways. Its driving me nuts ! Most time when it suddenly goes out (the connection) all the networks that should be in "show available networks" or all but the one I was connected to, disappear. I run the troubleshooter and it ends in resetting the wifi adapter. And it works. 10 minutes later, it happens again. Im trying to pin down the problem here. Thank you for your help.

  3. wifi adapter is damaged

Where are the results of the steps I gave you? This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

If the adapter is damaged and none of the other steps work then I showed you how to replace it most easily with a USB nano adapter in Step 10. You could also replace any built-in adapter if it is accessible or have a shop do it.

    Wifi Adapter

    Here are several methods:

    • Look in the user guide - see if 5 GHz WiFi is mentioned.
    • Find that model on the manufacturer's website - see if the manufacturer advertises 5 GHz capability.
    • Look for independent reviews of your model - the reviewer will certainly mention if the adapter supports 5 GHz

If none of those provide the answer, I can suggest many more ways to find out.

Do USB WiFi adapters supplement or replace existing WiFi antenna?: When using a laptop the internal antenna can only receive the WiFi signal that exists in that air space where it is located so it seems to me that plugging in a USB WiFi adapter into the laptop cannot increase the WiFi performance and yet that is the reason they are sold.
