    Replacement OS SSD appears as external drive in system tray, why?

    I recently bought a 1Tb Samsung 850 Evo to replace my 250Gb 850 Evo. I used the Samsung software to transfer my OS(C*Smile and Games(D*Smile to the new drive and everything went fine, however, I noticed the other day that this new 850 1Tb drive is now showing up in system tray as some sort of external type drive.
    Never had this with the previous 850 250Gb drive nor with any HDD so I was wondering why this is so. 'My PC' is as it should be, so no problem there.
    Any ideas, can it be removed?

    Cheers,

    Tom.

  2. Is there can a external ssd drive be used as the main OS drive?

    Hi Robert,

    We don't recommend using an external SSD as the main OS drive. You can use an external SSD as the main OS drive, but you need to configure the BIOS of your computer for it to boot the OS from the external SSD. We suggest contacting your computer manufacturer
    for assistance on configuring the BIOS of your computer.

    Let us know if you need anything else. We're here to help.

    Unable to recover - System drive too small

    There is only one OS on the 120GB SSD (system drive) at a time.

    Using the system image backup option - I backed up both my Windows 7 OS to an external 200GB HDD, and my Windows 10 OS to a separate external 200GB HDD.

    When I was running Windows 7, I would periodically create a new image to the 200GB HDD, and I could reload the 120GB SSD from the saved image whenever I wanted, no issues.

    Now trying to restore the Windows 10 from the other 200GB HDD to the formatted SSD, I am unable to using the Windows 10 system repair tool on a 16GB USB drive.

    Does that help?

    Boot into BIOS and look at the port where you connected the 1TB SSD if it set to hot plug, if so, disable it.

    Normally under Advanced->Integrated Peripherals
