If you upgraded from a retail box copy Windows 7, it has retail transfer rights.

Transferring Windows Retail From Broken Laptop's HDD to New Desktop

So my laptop recently broke and it had a preinstalled version of Windows 10 that is licensed as retail—I'm not sure why, how I checked is by inputting "slmgr -dli" into the Command Prompt—it stated that it's a retail license, but I dunno if this is an error
and if this'll work; I've checked on a family member's laptop and this is the case as well: preinstalled, states that it's retail, answer eludes me—and now that I'm getting a new PC I need to transfer my OS.

What I'm wondering is:

1) Is there a way to double-check that it's a retail license solely by connecting the HDD to a working PC?

2) If so, how do find my product key using only the HDD?

3) If any of the above work, how do I uninstall the license and then transfer it to my new desktop? Is it a matter of finding the product key on the old laptop's HDD, doing a clean install, then inputting the key when prompted, or do I need to transfer something
from the old HDD to the desktop?

4) Am I missing any steps? I've never transferred Windows from one computer to another, so I'm a little concerned about making an error.

Results:

I was not able to transfer my digital license W10 Pro to a new computer using the media tool.

I was able to upgrade my OEM W10 Home to the Pro version on the same computer without problems though. On my new laptop, I had to purchase a retail version of W10.
