  1. Reserved drive D to change to Drive E what settings should also be changed?

Presently I have drive D as the system reserved. That was created by Windows 11 by default. If I were to change that to Drive E, what parameters do I need to change to reflect this change?

Drive letter changed from D: to E:

    Hi Caleb,

I am Dave, I will help you with this, to make that drive the D dive, you must first remove the letter D from the other drive.

Try the following steps, if you cannot do that because of administrator privileges, you will need to get the admin to do this.

Insert the USB that took the D drive letter.

    Open Disk Management.

Right click the D drive and select 'Change Drive Letter'

Change the drive letter to H and save that.

    Safely remove that drive.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then insert the drive you want to be D

Check in File Explorer if that is not back to being the D drive.

If not, open Drive Management again and set its drive letter to D.

  3. How in WIN 11 do I change the drive letter of the CD/ROM drive?

    Thanks, Greg.

So this is what worked, step by step.

    Reboot

Drive is listed as E: in file explorer.

Drive not listed in Disk Management.

Insert DVD, it plays after short pause.

Disk management now shows Audio CD as E:

Right click, change letter to R: (while playing!)

    Reboot.

Drive now shows as BD-RE drive as R: in File Explorer.

    The bottom line is

    - File Explorer does not provide for changing drive letter afics.

    - Disk Management seems to need a disk to be in the drive for it to "see" the drive. I can't recall is this is Win 10 behaviour

I don't recall having any difficulty with this in Win 10 (its possible that the Win 10 default drive allocation was "after" my external drives; or I "just changed it").

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

  4. Reserved drive D to change to Drive E what settings should also be changed?

Drive letter changed from D: to E:

Recently, I found an old flash drive that I had. I plugged it in my computer to see what was on it. The issue is, the flash drive I used every day wasn't plugged in, so it stole the drive letter from my main flash drive, and it jumbled everything up. Now, for most people, the drive letter being slightly off wouldn't be an issue, but for me, I store almost everything on that flash drives. Projects, Minecraft Worlds, Videos, and a bunch of other junk. And because of that, I have told programs that go to my flash drive that it had the drive letter D:. And my main flash drive is now the letter E. And I can't change it through disk management, since I do not have administrator permissions on the computer I use it on. Please, help me fix this.

Edit: I tried formatting it on another device, but Windows is very stubborn on making it be E: instead of D:
