Reserved Partition Error - Fix Doesn't Work

I entered the key to my windows 10 copy and got the error, couldn't update the system reserve partition.

    The solution calls for:

    • Select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    • Choose Add.
    • Enter Y for the drive letter.

But when I click, Add, the choice to give a drive letter is blocked, and I can only click on Mount On The Following NTFS Empty Folder.

    Any ideas why?

    Btw, my drive is MBR.

    :)

  3. Error : we couldn't update the system reserved partition while upgrading from Windows 7 pro to Windows 10.

If it’s a GPT disk, it doesn't have a system reserved partition but efi partition. On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.

In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use an third party software, AOMEI
Partition Assistant, with Move Partition feature, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

Reserved Partition Error - Fix Doesn't Work

The System Reserved Partition is a Hidden Partition used for the Windows OS. It is not something that should be altered. You do not want to add a drive letter to this drive, as it is hidden to keep you from messing with it
What are you trying to accomplish?

When I registered my Windows 10 and went for updates, I got the stated error message (couldn't update the system reserve partition). On Microsoft's site, they list the steps you need to take to rectify the error. I was simply trying to follow the instructions.

Apparently, I have insufficient space on the System Reserved partition.

How big are the SSDs you show in My Computer? They frequently are smaller capacity than HDDs.

Your Windows partitions are split across two SSDs for some reason. It is much better practice to keep them on the same disk.

Noted your page file has been moved to a different partition (F).

You only show the results of disk checks for the smaller of the two SSDs.

I have 2 separate boot SSDs (C and F). I boot each depending on what I want to do. Never been a problem before. The other drives just hold static data. Read only.

I can't run that chkdsk operation on drive C, it says it's in use by another process. I can re-boot with my other drive to check the current C drive.

On minitool partition wizard there is a scroll bar for disk 2,3 and 4.
Move the scroll bar down and post an image into the thread so that the information on all disks is in view.

For disk management widen the status column and then scroll up and down or change the shape of the disk management box so that there is no scroll bar and everything is in full view.

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    1) sfc /scannow
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) sfc /scannow

You need to use an admin command prompt for chkdsk- you should then be prompted that your PC needs to restart.

Getting the results are less straightforward
