  1. Reset child's password - not adults!

    Hi there,

So my little one can access her school work during this coronavirus crisis, I've dutifully set her up with her own email account - that now appears on my family section. However, I instantly forgot her accounts password and want to reset this - the form that I've filled in twice keeps saying I haven't provided enough information to verify the account and I'm stuck changing mine. This is not helpful! I just want my child to have a limited account, that I control she is five years old!, so she can access her school work. I've verified and re-verified my account but cannot get access to hers - please help!

I don't not want links to my account security settings - I have already reset my password and not achieved anything that I want. This is not an account for children, unless I have full control over it, until such time as I choose to relinquish the control ie. when she's old enough. I have read multiple posts on this forum and none yet have provided a proper answer. Please help.

    :)

    Forgot Child's Password

    Hi Jason,

It's possible that you'll be able to change the password through your own administrator account. Just to confirm, is your daughter's account a Microsoft account, or a local user account?

If it's a local account, remove or change the password from the Control Panel. Sign in using your administrator account, then follow these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Control Panel and press Enter.
    • Click User Accounts.
    • Click Manage another account.
    • If the User Account Control window pops up, click Yes.
    • Choose the local account that you want.
    • Click Change the password.
    • Leave the password fields empty if you want to remove the password. Otherwise, enter the new password that you want to use, as wells as a hint and click
      Change password.

If it's a Microsoft family account, follow these steps to remove your child's account:

    • Log in using your adult account
      here
      .
    • On the right side of your child's account, click Remove.
    • Click Remove again.

After removing the account, you can set up your child's account again. Make sure that you have the correct password when you sign in.

Let us know if you're able to change or remove the password of your child's account after following these steps.
