Windows 10: Reset PC and installed Windows 10 freezing the laptop now

My laptop recently automatically installed the latest Windows 10 updates as of 26th April 2020. However, after installation of the updates, my laptop would freeze completely and randomly - screen unresponsive and ctrl+alt+del did nothing - only way to fix was to restart the computer every time.


I tried uninstalling the updates but that was unsuccessful, so opted for a reset of my PC and to reinstall Windows 10 completely. Personal files were kept but all apps that didn't come with the PC were deleted which I am okay with.


However, the version of Windows 10 that got installed is causing the same freezing issues and now, I no longer have the option of uninstalling the latest update because as far as the PC is concerned, there have been no new updates since reinstallation of Windows 10.


I've restarted my laptop in safe mode with networking and had no issues whatsoever then. I believe this is a software issue and not a hardware one - is there anything I can do to fix this? There have been no new updates to fix this particular bug yet.

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.
