    Reset pc/gain access to settings


    I was experiencing issues with the internet connection over different networks so i decided to reset the pc (windows 10) while choosing the option of simply deleting the apps and keeping the files. BIG MISTAKE. Although I kept my files I was left with NO programs at all - not even a browser. Through sheer luck I found an old browser setup file in my trash and has now gained access to the internet.

    BUT there are still big issues remaining; First of all I cannot gain access to my setting. No matter what pathway I choose it is the same result. Nothing. I cannot even open the windows tab in my toolbar. Also the processing of the pc has really gone downhill after the reset and it is difficult for it to even run any kind of downloads or setup for my previous programs.

    What I really want to do is try and reset the pc to factory settings and I have tried doing that through the login-screen but regardless of what option I take, the pc asks me for my bitlocker recovery key. I've checked and I do not have a key for this device - I did not even know such a thing existed before today.


    Has anyone else experienced issues after resetting the pc while keeping the files? What did they do to fix it? I am really at a loss here.


    If you have any other ways to access the settings please let me know.


    I am losing my mind here. Please help.

    I do no care about my files since most is online anyway. I just want my pc back

    How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

    Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


    First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

    I will assume that these devices belong to you.

    step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
    step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
    step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
    step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
    step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
    step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

    Break command list: Break Commands

    Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

    If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

    • What do you mean by “cannot gain access”?

    • Are you able to boot in to login page?

    • What is the status when you enter the password?

    • Do you see any error code or error message on the screen?


    As a work around, if you are using Microsoft Account, I suggest you to connect with internet and check if it helps.
