I purchase a new laptop and unfortunately I was hospitalized and then we had Covid. I didn't used my laptop brand new Acer aspire, until now, when trying to use the product key to reactivate the windows7. It's not working. How to reset or get a new product key?

:)

How to reset whole netsh? (Windows 7)

Was wondering has the commands changed somehow since on Windows XP and on Windows Vista 'NETSH INT RESET ALL' cleaned entire netsh up from top to bottom.

Now on Windows 7 this same command says no go and only way I can see it is by building .cmd/.bat which does something like:

Code: netsh winsock reset all netsh int 6to4 reset all netsh int ipv4 reset all netsh int ipv6 reset all netsh int httpstunnel reset all netsh int isatap reset all netsh int portproxy reset all netsh int tcp reset all netsh int teredo reset all
now the king of the hill of bugs is this doesn't actually do even it's job even after reboot. values setup to are not reset to defaults. (I know I could add more entire list of entries there is, but looking for clean delete/wipe settings & default everything not to dump entire list of resets.)

So, anyone got a plan B?

3. Product key of windows 7 ultimate

If you buy a 10 Pro key yourself there are no downgrade rights to 7 Pro.

10 Pro has to come preinstalled by the OEM (Dell, HP, etc.) for Downgrade Rights.

Here is the information about Downgrade rights. It is an old Microsoft link which they removed but the information still apples>

Downgrade rights for Windows software
The following OEM versions of Windows software are eligible for downgrade rights.

Windows 10 Pro includes downgrade rights to:
• Windows 8.1 Pro
• Windows 7 Professional
Windows 8.1 Pro includes downgrade rights to:
• Windows 7 Professional
• Windows Vista Business
Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate include downgrade rights to:
• Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate
• Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, or Windows XP x64 Edition
Note Other OEM Windows 7 versions (for example, Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium) do not include downgrade rights.

Note downgrade rights are only available as long as Microsoft provides support for that earlier version,
as outlined in the
Windows lifecycle fact sheet
.

Steps for an end user to downgrade Windows software

To downgrade eligible Windows software, end users must:

• Purchase a PC preinstalled with Windows software.
• Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
• Perform the downgrade process to the eligible downgrade product using the media/key from a genuine, previously licensed OEM or retail product.

4. Reset product key for windows 7. J6

PC not compatible with Windows 10, cannot revert back to Windows 7 and says the product key is illegible.

Hello Doug,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will help you in resolving the issue.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Did you PC come with Pre-installed Windows 7 OS?
• Do you have the recovery partition on the drive of your PC?
• When you say “reset”, are you performing factory reset of the PC?

Recovery partition is a backup drive created by the manufacturer at the original factory settings in case if something goes wrong with the operating system. It is mostly stored in a hard drive partition of the PC rather
than on CD-ROMS or DVDs. It will not affect any part of the drive of the PC if you delete the partition.

You will be able to factory reset the computer without using the product key if your PC came preinstalled with Windows 7 OS.

I suggest you to check if you have the recovery partition drive intact on your PC by following the steps below:

• Press Window logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
Disk management
from the context menu.
• Look for the Recovery partition drive under Status tab of the window.

If you have the Recovery partition drive intact with the PC, I suggest you to factory reset the PC by following the steps from the device manufacturer’s website:

Write to us with the status of the issue and the answers to the above questions on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

Thank you.
