Windows 10: Reset wallpaper and shortcuts for 2nd display

Hi. I reinstalled my Windows system at Friday. Since then, I have troubles with my secondary display. It keeps changing my wallpaper to the one that 1st display has, and remove shortcuts. I had no trouble with this before reinstallation. All my drivers are updated as well as Windows itself. Reset happens not only after reboot, but also after displays go to sleep mode. First display works fine, I don't see any issues in that matter, I have problems only with secondary display. Changing display priority is not an option. Windows 10 only displays Taskbar and Wallpaper on 2nd screen

Windows 10 has suddenly stopped incorrectly displaying the mirrored image on my 2nd screen - the only sections of the display that are being mirrored are the Taskbar and Wallpaper, regardless of what is being displayed.

This happens regardless of how the 2nd monitor is connected (HDMI cable or Wireless), or the Multiple Display setting chosen (Duplicate, Extend, or Show only on 2).

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.

I understand that you are unable to select different wallpaper for each display in Extend display mode.

There might be some issues with system files or viruses, which is not allowing you to select different wallpapers

Please perform some of the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps:

Method 1: Update/Install the Display Adapter driver.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to install/update the Display Adapter driver.

Steps to install the drivers for the Display Adapter.

• Press Windows + R keys from the keyboard to open Run command.
• In Run window type devmgmt.msc.
• Then in device manager right click on Display Adapter.
• Try to update the drivers from the option stating automatically update the drivers.
• If it works fine otherwise try to search for the drivers with the help of model number of your computer from the Manufacturer’s website.

Method 2: Please try to run SFC Scan on your computer to check all system files are working fine or not.

In order to run System File Checker (SFC) you can follow the steps provided in the following link:

After completion of this scan please restart computer and then check the status of your computer.
