    Reset Windows for .tar Files


    Hello,I need to reset Windows so that it stops trying to open .tar files with different programs. I cannot work with these files anymore because it wants me to choose which program to open them with. Renaming the file only works for one file. I need Windows to leave my .tar files alone for all .tar files. It is preventing me from downloading them from repositories and working with them. How do I tell Windows to leave my .tar files alone so that it stops trying to open them with different programs?

    As regards .tar files do you have WinRaR installed upon N8 to decompress them?

    I have no issues unpacking the file with 7-zip or even tar inside WSL but some applications I use rely on using tar
