Windows 10: Resistant VCruntime140 Error Windows 10S

Hi


I wonder if anyone can help me with this error, I have read the previous VCruntime140 threads but still my problem persists. Essentially I get an error message that the VCRuntime140.dll file is missing when I try to use RD web access to get into a particular piece of software (its a uniface based software if that makes any difference, TRIBAL SITS). I don't run much software on my cloudbook so I don't know if it would be causing issues elsewhere, but all the other applications I use over web access are fine. The mysterious bit is the dll file is there in both system32 and the 64 bit version. This is what I've tried so far:

1. Installed Microsoft redistributable C++ 2015, AND all previous versions since I assumed it needed a different earlier version of the file maybe. Issue still persists.

2. Refreshed windows in case the cloudbook shipped with a corrupt version of Windows. Issue still persists

3. Adjusted permissions in various places in case it was actually an issue with the software not being able to access something. Issue still persists.


Nothing I try seems to work, for reference I'm using a brand new Acer Windows 10S (I unlocked the S bit or whatever the correct terminology is there because the lack of control annoyed me) cloudbook, so no HP software interference. I have downloaded all the updates to Windows, and absolutely everything else pretty much. I have nothing installed on this thing, except what it shipped with. I bought it principally so I could work from home when needed so this is very frustrating.


Also just for reference, I used to be quite handy with Microsoft, but I defected to Apple a while ago, so I'm rusty so if anyone is able to provide advice (which would be very much appreciated obviously) please take it slow, it might take me a minute to remember how it all works.

Missing VCRUNTIME140.dll

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
