Resolution issues in Windows 10 Installer

Hi Guys, this is my first thread.

Im having some difficulty installing windows 10 on a Lenovo Miix 320. This is a notebook style tablet with a removable keyboard. This originally had Windows 10 64bit installed, however I wanted to try Elementary OS on it. The Live Linux USB worked fine and I was happy with it at first so I decided to run the installer which overwrote Windows 10 on the SSD. Anyway, after a while I started to run into some hardware compatibility issues such as sound stopped working, WiFi started playing up etc. I wasn't able to solve the issues and I discovered lots of people started having the same issues as me, so I decided to ditch Elementary OS and go back to Windows 10.

I have created a Windows 10 USB installer (works fine, I tested it on 2 other laptops) and made sure all my bios settings were correct. I can launch the installed from the USB, however when the Windows Installer loads up the screen is completely scrambled and unusable. To me it looks like the tablet can't display the resolution the installer is using.

Is there a way to modify the resolution the installer uses on the USB stick? Or if not, is there an alternative way to re-install windows?

I don't have any backups of the previous installation, also Elementary has overwritten my recovery partition... Doh!

Any help appreciate guys. Thanks in advance.

    Dan

    :)

  2. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

  3. Windows 10 desktop resolution issue

    Hi Arindam,

Welcome and thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience that you are unable to change the screen resolution, we will help you with this issue.

I suggest you to update the Display Adapter Drivers

Step 1: Update the Display Adapter driver.

    • Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
    • Select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display Adapter.
    • Right on the Display Adapter and click on
      Update driver software.

Refer to: How to: Install and
    Update drivers in Windows 10

Step 2: Please follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

    • Type Change screen resolution in the Search
      box from the desktop.
    • Under Resolution search for the Recommended resolution and click on
      Apply.
    • A windows pops up saying "Keep these display settings", then select
      Keep changes.

I would like to inform that, there will be a recommended resolution for all the computers, and if you select more than the recommended resolution the screen would not support for that.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact us for any further issues on Windows Operating System, we will be
    happy to help you.
