Windows 10: RESOLVED: My laptop does not detect the microphone on my headset

I recently bought a new laptop, a Dell Latitude 3510, for my university work. As everything is online, I bought a decent headset, the turtlebeach recon 200s, as I wanted to be comfortable and have high quality audio and good mic quality. My previous laptop had separate slots for headphones and a microphone, so I had bought a splitter for that. However on this laptop there is only the one audio jack.


The laptop does not register the mic at all. I have tried googling everything and have spent hours trawling through forums for a solution so I thought it best to post for myself.


I followed Dell's advice of disabling the built in laptop microphone but the system isnt even picking up the mic at all. When running the troubleshooter it prompts me to plug the mic in, when it of course already is. The mic itself is not muted, and I have tried every setting on it to get it to show to no luck. I've updated and reinstalled drivers still to no luck.


It's driving me absolutely insane trying to figure out how to get it to work so any help would be more than appreciated!


*SOLUTION*


I installed MaxxAudioPro from the windows store and it allowed me to change the headset from 'headphones' to be recognised as a headset. My mic is now working no problem : Will keep this up in case anyone else experiences similar difficulties!

I want to use the microphone attached to the headset as I just bought the headset but my laptop is still using the built-in mic and the headset mic is not detected.

I recently bought a new headset with a microphone and I can hear audio through the headset but
my mic is not detected and it is still using my default Realtek computer microphone.

I've tried looking for hidden microphones but there are none.
I've re-installed my Realtek HD Audio driver.

But nothing seems to work.

What should I do to fix this?

I just recently got a new asus laptop that runs windows 10 but it doesn't detect my headset microphone. I tried fixing it in sound manager and in the control panel, it just doesn't work. I only see two mic options when I try to change the input they are
both the realtek ones. I can hear sounds from my headset, but the mic is still picking up from the laptop's microphone. Is there some way I need to add the headphones as an option?
