Windows 10: [RESOLVED] Why is my upgrade path such a PITA? (VMWare SVGA 3D)

I still cannot update my Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10. Booted (EFI on Mac Pro 5.1) this morning in to my Win 8.1 and did the upgrade check, at first I was excited seeing this:





BUT, then checked the "PC compatibility report" and grrrrrr:





It's driving me nuts ATM. Why does this upgrade fail over one single driver? *Mad

Win 10 upgrade is now being blocked due to "Get Windows 10" Fails due to VMWare SVGA 3D driver on my Win 7 PRO VM's and my Win 8.1 VM's.

Initially it was a warning, but sometime later changed to FATAL error blocking Win 10 upgrade.

I have had Windows 10 Preview running faultless for months on my Apple Imac 3.2 2015 running VMWare 7.1.2 Fusion . I also reserved a windows 10 upgrade for my VMWare 7.1.2 running Windows 8.1 on the same machine. I received an email recently to say that
my Windows 10 had qualified and registered for an upgrade. Now a week after the email with no upgrade as yet and the Windows 10 Task bar Flag upgrade format has change and now says that the VMWare SVGA 3D is non compliant! God knows why as I am using it right
now without a hitch and have been doing so for months! I then contacted VMWare Support and they have Emailed back to say that they are looking into it.

Who knows but I don't understand why Microsoft have now a problem with the SVGA 3D display after all this time after first saying it was ok?

Thanks for your prompt reply! I opened the mentioned "Appraiser.JSON" file, the contents already meet the requirements as posted in that thread:

Hi there
I'm assuming you are running Windows as a VM - if this is the case try uninstalling vmware tools on the W8.1 system before doing the upgrade and in the vmware config / settings remove the check from hardware acceleration and 3D support.

Upgrade W10.
Now re-install vmware tools plus re-check hardware acceleration and 3D.

(Note I haven't got a Macbook but vmware should be pretty consistent across all the platforms it runs on).

Resolved this issue by installing a .ISO AU-1607 as an update for my Windows 8.1 Pro x64 SSD. Lauched the SSD in Fusion VM and updated it. Very happy to have a Windows 10 update that is activated.
