  1. Respect metered connection?

Is there any way to setup Windows 10 to respect my metered connection? It's capped at 3G speeds and every time I turn on my PC, Windows 10 starts to download the entire internet. I see many Windows services using up my bandwidth and I have to wait a long time before I can browse the internet or launch an app that requires online login. Keep getting timeouts until the storm settles.

I have my hotspot set as metered. Windows updates are paused for several more days. Windows app store auto updates are off. I "disabled" Cortana in the registry. Delivery optimization is off, yet it's still hogging my internets. SmartScreen is always checking in. Etc, etc...

I've run Malwarebytes and I'm clean. Ran Windows Security and no results.

I've even set my data cap to 10MB. I get a popup saying I've reached the cap and yet Windows is still downloading and uploading.

My download speeds average around 500Kbps and sometimes spike to 1Mbps.

    What gives?!

  3. OneDrive - Metered Connection

    Hi Sayyid,

Since you're using a SIM to be able to use the internet, Windows 10 automatically set your connection as metered if your Internet service provider limits the data you can use.

You can turn the Set as metered connection option to OFF by following these steps:

    • Click the Internet access icon from the Taskbar.
    • Click the network where you are connected, then click Properties.
    • Locate and toggle the Set as metered connection to OFF.

Let us know if the message still appears after following the above mentioned steps.

    Regards.
