Windows 10: Restart Computer equals Black screen NO BIOS Image/text

So,

Recently I've changed my Mobo, CPU and RAM. Installed Windows 8 Pro Retail and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. Worked perfectly and no problems *Smile

But I've noticed that if I need to restart the system I will get the usual Blue screen saying "Restarting", this will then goto a Black screen.

Nothing happens after the black screen, I never see my BIOS image or any text whatsoever (Which I usually see on a normal boot). IF I then press and hold the power button to force shutdown the computer and then press it again it will perform a normal boot, I see the BIOS Image etc.

Any ideas?

Windows 10 Install Fails On Reboot

While I was not looking at my desktop screen the Windows 10 installation rebooted to a black screen with a blinking cursor. I rebooted, watched the Bios text scroll by, and was left at the black screen with a blinking cursor. Need a little help!

 

My computer turns on but wont go to the start up codes how do I fix it?

My computer was starting up to where the codes are but then would go into an infinite black screen I restarted it couple times then entered to the bios to see if that would help next time I tried to restart it, it now wont even go to the codes to start
just does the bios then blackscreens.

 

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

As you are at such an early stage in the set up and have hopefully not loaded too many programs or data files you are in an excellent position to do a clean install of W10. You can get the latest W10 iso from the Microsoft Tech Bench ; make sure you download the correct version to match your existing set up (Home or PRO, 64bit or 32bit, language will probably be English international if you are a UK keyboard). A clean install will be so much better for you and should help to eliminate a lot of problems some people have been having with the upgrade route. You may need to get the latest drivers from the manufacturers for your system but wait first to see if MS finds them automatically. Device Manager will show if there are any that you need.

As you have already had W10 activated on this new setup when you install you simply skip activation at the beginning and W10 will automatically activate once the installation is complete.

Would I need to disable Bitlocker on my c drive before a clean build?

 

Actually I'm not totally sure, you will need to be able to reformat the drive as part of the clean installation. I guess you might need to turn off Bitlocker.

 

I'm thinking that this is more of a hardware/BIOS issue. Is the motherboard updated to the latest BIOS version? If so, you could try loading the BIOS defaults. Then set your BIOS config the way it should be and see if the problem remains.

 

I'm not sure, the bios performs a restart perfectly fine when I change t Abby settings. Bios is up-to-date too.

 

Worked like a charm, computer reboots like normal now
