Restart to Install Updates -- however ...

1 Got pesky "Restart to install updates" pop-up

2 Notification box which can't be moved covers item I'm trying to but now no longer can Close*

3 Reduce Restart Pop-up, Close open item & then Click Restart Now

4 Get pop-up warning of other Open/Unsaved items actually helpful!

5 Save/Close those docs & attempt to resume Restart

6 Restart Now button is now Dead ?! no-workie! ...WTH??

7 Close Restart Notification I can just re-open that, right?

8 Open Settings, only to find that Restart Now Notification isNowhere to be found! WTH??

9 Open Control Panel & Search for "Updates" --- which only shows Updatehistory WTH??

10 Ask Cortana about "Restart for Updates" - Response is something like "Duuuh...Whaaa? I don't understand!"

11 Search for "Restart for Updates" see Cortana, above which prompts ... "Nothing Found" WTH??

My Questions: How is any of this helpful?? - & - What the %$&# am I missing here?

It is now 11 days past "April Fools Day" but I still feel as if I'm being 'punked' by M$

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Restart to Install Updates -- however ... :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
