Windows 10: Restarted laptop, fingerprint, pin, Edge and more totally reset.

Hi, I recently restarted my windows 11 laptop, but it seems the account, or account files where deleted? I immediately noticed that after the restart, my fingerprint scanner didn't work, neither did my Laptop's Pin. I was told that the device was offline, and it had forgotten my WiFi login. I used my phone as a hotspot, and logged in with my full password. However I noticed that my fingerprint, pin, bookmarks and many more things where now gone. I reset my laptop a reinstall of Windows but kept my files and the issue did not resolve. It isn't the driver or hardware, as my fingerprint worked

Can't register my fingerprint on second laptop

thanks for the advice. As I mentioned in my OP, the fingerprint scanner works fine on a new local account...so obviously it is supported on my laptop.

Secondly, I tried to follow your instructions about resetting Windows Hello biometric data but there is no 'remove' button to be seen. I have attached a screen grab. Any further suggestions?

I also tried deleting the PIN, restarting the laptop - which prompted me to setup windows hello, which I followed and got same issue. When it asks me to fingerprint, I press and got a black screen with the error message "something went wrong" so had to skip
that step and add a PIN again. The PIN works fine but I want to be able to use fingerprint scan.

Unable to Set Up Pin or Windows Hello Fingerprint

Hi! Thank you for the quick and comprehensive response. Unfortunately, I tried every suggestion you provided, and none of them worked. I believe that there are no issues with the hardware or drivers for the fingerprint sensor, and that all the issues are
coming from Windows refusing to accept that I have actually created a PIN. I went down the list, did everything, even did the Repair Install, which didn't work, then tried deleting the Ngc folder and restarting, which didn't help either. It still only says
"Add" under the options for PIN, and when I go to setup fingerprint sensor, everything works fine up until it tells me that I need to create a PIN to use Hello. I already have created a PIN, and I sign into my computer using it just fine, but it appears that
the settings application does not see that. Any other suggestions?

What is the model of the Lenovo laptop wherein the fingerprint scanner does not work?

Since the issue involves working of the fingerprint scanner which came inbuilt with the Lenovo laptop, I would request you to contact the laptop manufacturer.

In the meanwhile you can execute the Hardware and devices troubleshooter and then check if it helps.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
