    both are HP laptops - i made full backup from the old computer to an sd card - i want to restore the backup to the new computer from the sd card

    Hello Tom,

    Thanks for the update. If the HP laptop has a built-in SD card slot you can insert your SD card there and windows will recognize that SD card.

    Please see steps below on how to restore your backup:

    If you used Backup and Restore to back up files or create system image backups in previous versions of Windows, your old backup is still available in Windows 10.

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel.

    2. Then select Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore (Windows 7).

    3. In the Restore section, you can browse the backup file and restore it.
