Windows 10: Restore computer from a backup for a different computer on a different Microsoft account

I have recently purchased a new computer as my old one had been a write-off, but this new computer has a different Microsoft account attached to it. I am able to access both accounts, however I am unable to access the first computer, and the second is currently in setup. How should I proceed if I wish to restore the new computer from one of the backups for the old one?Would it be possible to transfer the files somehow over from one account to another? How would I access them?

I think your reply answers my question. If I remember correctly, I think my backup has a system image, which can screw my previous installation. Now, I am thinking of doing this

• creating a backup of my work computer
• restoring the backup of my previous computer
• recovering files

I have a backup of my files from a Windows 10 laptop, which died on me recently. Currently, I am using a work laptop which runs on a different Windows 10 license.

I would like to recover some of my files from my previous laptop, and am planning to restore my backup.

Is this advisable to do on my work laptop? What will happen to other user accounts in my work laptop if I did proceed with restoring my backup?

The license has nothing to do with what's on the disk as such, but can be linked to an MS account of course. Windows is activated via a digital entitlement held on MS servers, initiated by e.g. - an appropriate upgrade - the 1-off use of a key, whether Win 10 or an eligible key from an earlier version of Windows - sometimes a key held in the BIOS/UEFI

Backup is generic, disk imaging is a specific form of backup. As the licensed version of Macrium supports data backup, this is not clear.
