  1. Restore Desktop after taskkill /f /im explorer.exe

I found this for changing the system 32 folder. The System32 folder is a Windows system folder and you should not interfere with it in any way unless you know exactly what you are doing. If you insist then you can use this method to gain full access.Create a desktop shortcut for cmd.exe.Right-click this shortcut, then left-click "Run as administrator".Accept the challenge. You will get a black frame.Type these commands and press Enter after each:taskkill /f /im explorer.exeyour desktop will disappearexplorer.exeyour desktop will returnDo whatever you need to do in the System32 folder. We appreciate the screenshot you included. Rebuilding icon cache may help us resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Command Prompt.
    • Copy and paste each command below one at a time into the command prompt, and press
      Enter after each command.
      • ie4uinit.exe -show
      • taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
      • DEL /A /Q "%localappdata%\IconCache.db"
      • DEL /A /F /Q "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*"
      • shutdown /r /f /t 00
Note: Performing the steps above will involve killing explorer and restarting the PC. We suggest saving anything that you're working on before proceeding.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

    Icons

We appreciate your reply. Since system restore did not help in getting the icons to display, we suggest that you rebuild the icon cache in the Command Prompt. To do this task, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Close and save anything that you are working on before proceeding. The next steps will involve closing file explorer and restarting the PC.
    • Open a command prompt (admin).
    • Copy and paste each command below one at a time into the command prompt, and press Enter after each command.

      ie4uinit.exe -show

      taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F

      DEL /A /Q "%localappdata%\IconCache.db"

      DEL /A /F /Q "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*"

      shutdown /r /f /t 00
    • The last command will instantly restart your PC.

Let us know if you will need further assistance.
