Restore image from within Windows with Macrium V6

This may seem a ridiculous question to ask but I am a newbieat using Macrium Reflect Free V6.1 Build 871 on a machine running Windows 10 Home64bit so apologise. I have created a USB and DVD Rescue Media but would like to know when should I Add Recovery Boot Menu Option before or after creating an image of the partitions required to backup and restore Windows or does it not matter to restore image from within Windows? *Redface

How to transfer ssd to new computer with windows 10 without formating?

You need to make an image of the SSD with imaging software that supports restores to dissimilar hardware. One example is

    Macrium Reflect
with their Redploy feature. Another is
    AOEMEI Backupper
with the Dissimlar Harware/Universal Restore feature.

For more examples of software you can use, search the web for: image restore to dissimlar hardware.

  3. Copy pinned start menu apps to another user, Windows 10

Never did find a solution, just started again with the pinned menu.....must be stored somewhere.....but no idea where......best to make an image backup onto a portable HDD using macrium reflect (free) very easy and reliable.....then when the worst happens
just restore from the image.....make an macrium boot disk or USB pen from within the program....

The boot recovery option is merely a convenience -- it allows you to restore from a saved backup without having to boot from CD, DVD, or USB. It boots the same WinPE stuff as the offline media, so the results are the same. I use it because of the convenience.

That is precisely my intension, so does it matter when Add Recovery Boot Menu Option is added before or after creating an image?

Recovery boot menu basically creates a dual boot. In addition to Windows 10 you can choose to boot to the Macrium recovery environment. If you don't want to see this every time you need to set you boot options up like this:

Then when you just need to boot to Advanced Startup if Windows is working and you just want to go back to an earlier image
Or if you constantly have a BSOD or Black screen White cursor, crash the boot process 2-3 times in a row(when the boot process starts, just as POST goes to Windows press the power button, and crash the PC) and it will automatically come up if you use the settings in the 1st picture(uncheck Automatic Restart & check Write an event log)..
