Restore point, desktop, Task bar & search

Hi,I have been trying to create a restore point, or even apply a system restore point, however when I type 'services.msc' in the search bar, I only see a document in the windows directory not an app, or command line. The search bar has been next to useless for weeks now.I cannot even locate 'system restore' or restore from within 'settings'.The results are displayed as no results for xxxx,.and finally the desktop and task bar icon keep disappearing, and seems only come back when an external drive is connected. When they do the desktop icons are all gathered on the LHS not how they were posit

    - Are you using desktop mode or tablet mode?

If you are using desktop mode and facing this issue I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

    1. Right on the task bar and select
    Cortana.

    2. Click on Show search bar.

If you are on tablet mode, the search bar will not appear.

Windows 10 restore points how do I make and use restore points properly?

    To create a restore-point in Win10:

    • In the task-bar search box ("I'm Cortana...)
    • type in "Restore"
    • Popup menu shows "Create a restore point", click to select this
    • The System Properties dialog box show up - System Protection tab displaying
    • Make sure the C drive protection setting is ON.
    • Click on the "Create..." button to create a restore-point. Enter the name of the restore-point and select Create.
    • Done.

To restore to a restore-point (AKA rollback your system)
    - Same steps as before.
    - Instead of "Create..", select "System Restore..." button
    - Select the restore-point you want and restore.

Typically, you should create a restore point before installing any not well-known software, drivers, etc. Any suspicion of malware or ill behaviors (system crashed, slow, etc), you should use the restore-point to rollback the system.
