    Restore Point Log Files?

Just used a restore point to restore the system but accidentally closed out of the reboot status message before I could read it. What event logs do I need to look at to see if the system restore was successful?I read to search by event ID 8202 but is that all for records? Is there more to be looked at? Clarification is appreciated.

    :)

  2. System Restore Point Questions

    Thanks, Dave!

Suppose I go back to an earlier version of C: with the desired restore point, restore from it and create a restore point on D:, then reload the current C:. Will I be able to restore from that restore point on D:?

    Step by step:

    1. Enable Restore for D:
    2. Back up the C: drive with Acronis.
    3. Restore C: to an earlier date with the desired restore point, from the Acronis backup image.
    4. Restore the system from the desired restore point.
    5. See if Restore is still enabled for D:. If not, enable it there, with the same capacity as in step 1.
    6. Disable Restore for C:.
    7. Create a restore point. Since there's no availability on C:, it should be created on D:, and be identical to the desired restore point.
    8. Now put C: back to the current version using the backup created in step 2.

Will the system now recognize that restore point on D: and let me restore from it?

(Edited to add the explanation, and step 4.)

    Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

    Download CCcleaner from here...........

    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.

    Restore Point Log Files?

    restore point

Hi there mikewilson4, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

This is possible if you have a restore point that can restore your computer 2 months back.

To check your restore point please follow this,

This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app or driver, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel, and then choose it from the list of results

In the Control Panel search box, type recovery.

Select Recovery > Open System Restore.

In the Restore system files and setting box, select Next.

Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results, and then select Scan for affected programs.

    Notes

If you don’t see the restore point that you want to use, select the Show more restore points check box to see more restore points.

If you’re not seeing any restore points, it might be because system protection isn’t turned on. Here’s how to check:

In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel, and then choose it from the list of results.

In the Control Panel search box, type recovery.

Select Recovery > Configure System Restore > Configure and see if the Turn on system protection option is selected.

If the Turn on system protection option is not selected, system protection isn’t turned on and there aren't any restore points. In this scenario, you won't be able to recovery your PC using a system restore point and will need to use one of the other recovery options listed on this page.

If the Turn on system protection option is selected, continue with step 6.

You'll see a list of items that will be deleted if you remove this restore point. If you're OK with the deletions, select Close> Next > Finish.
