Windows 10: restore theme customization options (e.g. removing background images from rotation)

Modifying themes to exclude/include images in the background picture rotation was possible through the "Personalize" interface in earlier versions of Windows 10/8/7 (Vista? - cannot remember).


Why was this removed? - more importantly, will it be restored?


There is a "Background" link indicating 18 images are in the pool, but clicking it does *not* take me to screen showing the 18 images and whether or not they're included in the active rotation.


Can I browse the file system & delete the images? - probably. Should anybody have to do that? - no. The personalization & theme customization *was* well designed; the new interface lacks the ability to actually personalize.


Why would anybody expect the "Background - Slideshow (## images)" link ("Settings" > "Personalization" > "Themes") to simply redirect them to the background section ("Settings" > "Personalization" > "Background")? No control of the image pool can be done here. The only thing that can be done is to click the "Go to Themes" link, which re-links back to this page.


The cycle of unwanted & unneeded "improvements" awful decisions (inability to fully control update & restart times... services, like xbox & maps broker, enabled by default in Windows 2016... click the "Give us feedback" link gives me a popup saying that I need a new app to use the 'feedback-hub', but none can be found in the store... looking at all of you) continues! :|


ps - updating the hardcoded store search for "feedback-hub" to "feedback hub" should fix that issue...

Auto rotate and g force


Really needed to list more system specs and information on this issue.So this is assuming you have this and this is the issue.

Why does my screen not rotate?


The auto rotation lock feature is turned on by default in Windows 10. Use the following steps to turn off this feature.

1. Place the tablet into Pad/Tablet mode.
2. Click the Start
   
   menu and select Settings.
3. Click System.
4. Click Display.
5. Scroll down and toggle Lock rotation of this display to OFF.

 

Auto rotate and g force

I dont have that option in settings. I go to settings and the display is in the sysyem folder and it doesn't have that option. This is a flexx11 that had win 8.1 did the upgrade about 5 weeks ago and everything was fine. Keyboard started messing up and cust support had me do a reset. During that time it installed a very different win 10 than the converted one. When using it for games it doesnt respond to turning either, figure it's connected. Thanks

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.
