Windows 10: Restore Thumbnails

When choosing a new folder icon, you no longer see the contents of that folder in my case thumbnails. Is this a permanent change or can it be restored to showing the contents of a file thumbnails. I have tried pressing the "Restore Default" button, but that doesn't get rid of the icons and restore them and show thumbnails. Everything is fine in OneDrive.Live. "Always show icons not thumbnails" is not checked.

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?

 

How to restore deleted thumbnails to my computer?

I was trying to make my computer run faster and a suggestion online said to delete thumbnails. I did and now I want them back!!! Is there a way to restore deleted thumbnails to my computer? I went to the Recycle Bin and restored all, however I still don't
have any thumbnails for my pictures. Please tell me this is fixable!!! Thanks.

Dalchina, Thank you for your reply. Yes, the file association is correct. I’ve submitted a request to the software providers. I do know how to rebuild the thumbnail cache, have done so, and prevented deletion of the cache. I have indeed dis and reassociated the files. No difference. I will look into daily restore points, good idea. I have the tutorial list and links. Even though I restored successfully, the thumbnail images remain pixilated, maybe even worse than before.
