  1. Restore using files from Recovery partition

    I bought a HP laptop which came with Win 10 Home. Due to some reasons, I downgraded to 8.1 by clean install. Now i want to do factory reset to win 10 But i realised that my F11 hp recovery manager is no longer working. The recovery partitions are hidden and but the files are still there. My hard drive has GPT partition system, so I'm not able to set the recovery partitions active. Using some tool, i made a backup of files in the recovery partition. Is it possible to create any bootable usb recovery disk using the files from recovery partition or even make the f11 work again and restore my laptop to win 10. (Note: the problem is not restoring to genuine win 10 because the product key of the win 10 which came with my laptop is embedded in my laptop bios, so when i install win 10 home using any ISO, it gets automatically activated with the OEM key in my bios.)

    The issue is about the factory HP recovery because i have to restore it to claim the warranty. When i installed 8.1, the recovery partitions went hidden. There is no longer the HP recovery push button option which i get when i press F11 during startup. I thought win 8.1 may not be able to recognise the partititons and files. so i did a clean install of win 10 and Installed the HP recovery manager software and the software says the recovery partition is deleted. But i can see very well that the partitions are still there and the files in it are not disturbed.

    I need help from someone who know about recovery partitions file systems or someone who know how to create own recovery setup using the files (.swm, .wim files) from the recovery partition.

    I was able to assign these recovery partitions letters temporarily using diskpart.

    I also tried to extract the install.swm files in the preload folder using 7zip. Is it possible to restore by cloning these files to primary bootable partition?

    Hard Drive (CRestore using files from Recovery partition :) problem

    Thanks for the screenshot you've provided. The recovery partition is a special partition on the hard drive used to restore the system in the event of any problem. The
    OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) partition is the manufacturer's recovery partition which is used when you restore/reinstall Windows using the
    OEM disk. As mentioned above, this is hidden from File Explorer. It's not advisable to delete these partitions.

    Hope this information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

  3. Files from windows 10 recovery partition (D) deleted mistakenly, how to create new

    I have genuine windows 10 that came installed in my laptop. The partition (D) was labelled as recovery partition (D).

    My wife mistakenly deleted files from Recovery partition (D) and I don't have a DVD of windows 10 with the same serial number that is installed in my system. The restore files option also won't work as lot of time has passed now.

    Is there a way that I can configure recovery partition again? I saw from my microsoft website, they have an .iso of windows 10 for download, but I am not sure how to configure the iso in recovery partition.

    @guruprasath,

    It's not good form to double-post. You have already asked this question once before and had three replies so far.

    Who told you it has to be factory software to claim warranty service?

    Welcome to the forum. There isn't a lot of point using the recovery as it will be an old copy of Windows so you will have massive updates. Simply go and get the free Windows 10 from ms boot from the DVD and do a clean install it will have the latest updates

    The date of 10th July 2015 and size of 387KB shown for bootmgr in the screenshot of F: RECOVERY identifies it as the one for the original RTM version 10240 (1507). By the next release (1511) it was 30th October 2015 and 391KB.
