  1. Restoring a back up from one laptop to just one account on another

Hello, My laptop got stolen recently and instead of buying a new one I am going to make a separate account on my wife's laptop and share hers. I had an external hard drive for my laptop that I want to restore to the new account. The way I have restored laptops in the past it is by plugging in the hard drive, select it on File History you get this:If you then click on 'Hagrid' what my old laptop was called you get this:I'm concerned this will overwrite my wife's account, which I don't want to do. Do you know if that will be the case? Or will restoring the files just add them to the new accoun

    :)

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.

    Restore local account ?

    Hi,

We apologize for not being able to address your concern in a timely manner.

I would suggest you to check if your old account is displayed in the list of Manage Accounts.

Follow the below steps to check:

    • Right click on the Start button and select
      Control Panel
      .
    • Click on the User Accounts.
    • Click on Manage Accounts and check if you are able to view your old account.
If you’re old account is not present in the Manage Accounts list then, you may not be able to recover the old account. If you’re old account is present in the Manage Accounts list then you can find that account on the bottom left
    corner on the Lock screen.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
