Windows 10: Restoring data from "Your Phone companion"

I just got my phone back from warranty and now would like to restore my old photos and apps from my "Your Phone Companion" app on Windows 10. Even though it was factory resetted, the app on Windows 10 recognizes (somehow) that my old phone is connected after I connected them to the same wireless and I can see all my old apps and photos on the windows app. But how do I restore my phone from my PC?

Has anyone been able to get phone companion to work

Hi,

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Phone companion app and check if you are facing the issue

To uninstall the phone companion app please follow the steps below:

• 
  Type phone companion in the
  search box.
  
• 
  Right click on
  phone companion and click on uninstall.
  

Once it is uninstalled, you can reinstall it from windows store.

Supported phones for Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview


Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.

 

Your Phone Companion is working but often weird

Just more and more "historical" messages. Now, messages I write on the input panel on the right appear in the list on the left but the message I wrote doesn't appear on the right side panel, just more historical messages.

At least the thing seems to work. Sort of two steps forward and three to the left and back.

I wish someone who was a real coder would write a decent app like this, one that was, uh, tested and didn't have an idiotic name like "Your Phone Companion". SIGH.
