Retain File Names no name mangling when move/ cut from Recycle Bin

Retain File Names without name mangling when Move/ Cut select Files from Recycle Bin to a selected location

Retain File Names without name mangling when Move/ Cut select Files from Recycle Bin to a selected location
Move/ Cut select Files from Recycle Bin to a selected location retaining File Names without name mangling?
"Windows Behavior" when cutting/ pasting or drag-dropping the files to some location/ folder, all the names are mangled.
Names are mangled like this: $REA9O58.xxx
The only option Recycle Bin gives is:

    • Restore
(do not wish for files to go back and mixup with other files in Original Folder) or
    • Cut
(When pasted or Drag & Dropped to new location, the original name is mangled).

Any way around this to put select files into other location folders from Recycle Bin?

    PS: OS: Win 8.1 x64

    :)

  2. How do I restore files from the recycle bin of a system image? (windows 7 backup)

that's what happens to files in the recycle bin

they get renamed when placed into the recycle bin

otherwise it would be impossible to delete any file or folder with the same name of one already in the recycle bin

when accessing an online recycle bin through the recycle bin folder in explorer you don't see the actual folder

but a pseudo folder and a background process that reads the database file of the changed names to display the original file names

when you access an offline recycle bin by manually navigating the folders,

none of the original file / folder names will be seen

you need to find that database file in the offline recycle bin

open it and search for the original file name to find the recycle bin name corresponding to the original file name

  3. Problem restoring files from very full recycle bin

Yes. The files remain there as you're just copying the files instead of moving. Altering the Recycle Bin contents manually can corrupt the entire structure and restoring from UI is not possible.

Some info on how Recycle Bin stores the files / file name convention.

Digital Forensics: Artifact Profile - Recycle Bin - Magnet Forensics Inc.

Also, there is a 3rd party software (paid) named FileScavenger that claims to restore files with original file names, but I haven't tried that. Another one "Ultimate Recycle bin" Undelete Files with Ultimate Recycle Bin - Blue Shoe Software LLC

Hi, as your question relates to Win 8.1, you might wish to be aware of
    Windows 8 Forums

    1. Restore - if the file name already exists in the destination folder, there is a warning dialogue offering Replace and Compare.
    2. Rt click drag 'n drop => a Move option. The name is preserved - I don't see what you're seeing. (Mangled names).

I know. Win 8 forums are kind of half asleep these days and figured the mechanism would be same and easier to garner an answer here.
    I was doing either a
    - Rt Clk - Restore
    OR
    - left click drag ... so wasnt getting your option

With your steps I get it with right name.

    Curious. There's nothing wrong with
Rt click file + click Restore
of course- that should work too.. (it does for me)

Likewise left click + drag e.g. to the desktop.
