Windows 10: Retrieve a used key for Windows 10 Education

Hello community.


I'm finding myself stuck with an annoying issue these few days. My university provides 1 free Windows 10 Education key for every student, and I am trying to use it to activate my computer.


The issue is, I already checked out the key a couple of years ago and most likely used it to activate some other computer I used I don't remember which one and probably don't have access to it now anyway. I still have the key in my account of Onthehub they even made it purchase some add-on to have access to the information of the key again, but when I try it on my current computer, I get this error: 0x803fa067 saying that I don't have a valid digital license or product key. I also have this other error saying I should try to activate later or purchase a genuine one from the store with a code: 0xC004F025.


Now I get that the key is to be used only once, but given that it is probably wasted on a computer that might not even be used now, is there a way to regain access and validity of the key? since I am the legitimate owner through Onthehub, can Microsoft do something to allow me to use my key on my current computer and remove it/cancel it in the other one?


I have been trying to chat with an agent but they're always busy apparently.

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

 

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Are you have Windows 10 Education installed?

To find out if you have the right edition installed:

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation > Edition.

If you don't have the right edition installed, you will need to download and install it.

Step 1:

Download Windows 10 Education ISO files

If you attend a college or university, your institution might provide you with the Education edition of Windows 10. If you are only provided with a license (product key), you can download the .ISO file from the Microsoft Download Academic Products website.
