Windows 10: Retrieve Activated Windows 10 Pro key?

In Windows 10 Pro, Activation shows the following:Activation Edition Windows 10 Pro Activation Windows is activated with digital license The laptop originally came with Windows 10 Home. I retrieved the UEFI/BIOS product key using this command:wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKeyForgot to mention that I upgraded this laptop from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro using one of the Product Keys.I have multiple Windows 10 Pro product keys for my computers. I just want to make sure I use the correct one again.

Windows 8.1 pro + WMC key activation

This worked for me last time with a Win 8 key.

Install Windows 8.1 and enter KMS key during setup. Once in windows change product key to my Windows 8 key. Go to add features and enter my WMC add-on key. Drink a beer to a job well done.

So it will be fine installing 8.1 pro with a KMS key, then switch to my 8 pro key and it will activate ok?

Maybe a daft question but why can't you just install 8.1 pro with the 8 pro key, or is it different keys for 8 and 8.1? seems silly when 8.1 is a free update anyway.

 

Windows 10 Pro Activation Key

I have lost access to Windows activation key following motherboard failure. Due to age of laptop, I have replaced it and now wish to upgrade Windows Home to Pro on the new one.

The activation Key does not appear to be linked to my microsoft account although the old laptop is still in list of devices and confirms professional version of Windows had been in use. The hard drive from old laptop is functional and i wonder if there
is any way of retrieving key from files.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
