    Retrieve password protected documents


    I password protected a few documents saved in a drive, and the password has been forgotten. I am in Windows 10, the files were saved and in a much older version. Can I retrieve them?

    Windows 11 HOME is installed along with Windows 365 subscription. On rare occasions, I want an extra layer of security and have password protected such Word or PDF documents prior to updating to Windows 11. The password protection still works on pre-Windows 11 documents when I update them (I have to save manually rather than auto save on these documents but that is not a big deal) but I cannot create any new password protected documents. Thank you for offering to help me.

    How to open password Protected documents ?

    Unfortunately Password protected Word Documents are not supported at the moment. Please make a feature request on the following page:

    Older office formats are not supported. You will need to convert to supported types
