Windows 10: Retrieve product key from Windows 7 upgrade option order ID

I have a Windows Vista era desktop from 2009. in 2010, It was upgraded to Windows 7. It ran that for 12 years and then it was upgraded to Windows 10. Recently, I dual-booted Windows 10 and 7 but as I enter the setup, I am asked for a product key. I tried the Windows Vista sticker on the side of the computer and the Windows 10 product key, but no success. Because I am using Windows 7 for the performance, I want to use my own product key. I do have a pdf document for the Windows 7 upgrade option with the order ID. Is there a way I can retrieve the product key from the order ID. I do not plan to

Can I retrieve windows 7 product key with product ID?

Hi ,

I had a very old laptop which had windows 7 Ultimate system, I forgot to save the product key from my windows 7 and installed windows 10 Pro downloaded from Microsoft website but I still have my product ID from windows 7 ultimate. Is there a way I can retrieve the product key with my product ID?
If it can be retrieved can it still be used to activate my windows 10 which is currently not activated? (Keeping in mind windows 7 and 8 support has ended)

If it can be retrieved how and where can I do that?

Note: I no longer have windows 7 OS on my PC and the several steps given to find product key is not appliable in my case as those steps require me to be on windows 7 again.

Since its an old PC I don't have the original CD drive nor do I have any resources and backup for my Windows 7 ultimate OS

No; a Product ID does not help.

Since 7 is no longer installed, you need 7 to have been preinstalled by Dell, HP etc. for any chance to find the Key.

If OEM preinstalled (Dell, HP, etc.) license:

The COA sticker, which has the Product Key on it, is either on the underside of the Laptop or in the Battery Compartment.

With a Desktop it is either on the side, rear or top of the Computer Case.



Product Key finder programs do NOT find a useable product key on OEM preinstalled operating systems (Dell, HP, etc.)

Key Finder Programs used on preinstalled Operating Systems only find the Manufacturer's Product Key which was used on multiple machines during manufacture and what they find is not suitable to use for a reinstall or activation problems.

 

Order History missing the Product key/Install option

I ordered 2 copies of the Windows 10 Home (download) edition from Microsoft's website and I understand Microsoft does not have any record of the product keys, nor do they offer refunds on that type of order.

The instructions given by Microsoft to retrieve those keys is:

1. Go to Order History, find Windows 10, and then select Product key/Install.
   
2. Select Copy to copy the key, and then select Install.
   
3. Select Download tool now, and follow the instructions.
   
4. A wizard will help you through the steps to install. You can install Windows 10 on a PC or a Mac.
   

The problem is that the order in question does not have a Product key/Install option. Is this a bug with Microsoft's website?
