    Retrieving data from an external SD saved from a different machine.


    Hi,I saved the content of my last machines USERS folder to an SD card.Now I want to retrieve some of the data stored in my folder on the SD card a sub folder of USERSHowever the folder does not open. I have tried changing the owner and I know that the SD card is not write protected hardware wise but when I press apply; I get a warning window pop up.Then get another pop up on top of that saying the device is write protected.an error occurred while applying security information on D:\USERS\bbkma .. cache.tagI could attach a screenshot but I don't see an attach option.Please help. I really need

    Does anyone know of a free way to retrieve data from a malfunctioning SD card? Most allow a free scan but not data retrieval.

    How to recover data from corrupted WD external hardisk

    Hi...

    I have Western Digital Passport 1 TB external Hard disk. It has got corrupted. When I connect to my Window 7 machine, my external hard disk rotates but my machine does not recognize it.I have checked External hard disk with other working cable as well but still it is not working . I have tried to recover data with Hiren boot cd ,. On hiren boot machine it is recognizing the disk. I can copy some data in form of dd format with data rescue but not able to recover data with this DD format file. I have used different softwares to recover dd file but all are giving error. Please suggest how can i recover my data.

    Hello @jimlau,

    Have you tried the Linux Live CD option?
    You can boot the media and retrieve data without actually being in the OS etc.

    Linux Mint
