    notepad

    1. Go to Start or Run (windows+R)
    2. Under the search bar, key in Appdata
    3. Click Enter to direct to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming
    4. At the right search bar, type filename of lost text and notepad file...

    Notepad slow to open text files

    Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

    It will be down to the way each app loads the data, Notepad++ is very good at handling large files as it only retrieves the segment of the file you are currently working on (so doesn't take too long).

    But notepad/wordpad downloads the entire file and loads into memory before opening.

    That is why you would see a difference, if you regularly use large text files I would definitely recommend Notepad++.
