    Retrieving OneDrive Back-up Files

I was using Microsoft Onedrive on my laptop to backup and sync certain folders and files. It was working okay. Then the hard drive crashed on the laptop so I can no longer boot up that device. I want to retrieve the backed-up data. If I go to the www.onedrive.live.com website using another one of my computers, I can see the icon for the failed laptop device. But when I click on it, I am told that the laptop needs to be turned on and connected to the internet to see the OneDrive files. But I cannot do that because the hard drive will not boot up.

Is there a way to retrieve those folders and files directly from the cloud for that device without it needing to be on-line?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

File History & OneDrive on Demand

I know that "files on demand" aren't saved on my computer. However, I still have the following problems:

    • After starting a new File History backup from scratch (as suggested in the first response) the majority of my Onedrive , including almost all files that are marked as "Always Keep on this Device" are not backed up.
    • Even for files marked as "Files on Demand" - surely File History should be able to back them up anyway? The whole point of a good backup system is that you have copies of files in multiple places (and OneDrive's cloud system only counts as 1). The creation
of the file history would be download heavy as it copies every file to my backup device, but after that it should only have to download single files as changes are made.

    Retrieving pics from OneDrive

    Hi,
    MercyMakodi
. For us to better address your concern, can we have your old phone's model? If it is a Lumia phone and you have enabled its the "Auto upload" to OneDrive option under Settings>photos+camera, you can still retrieve your photos on your OneDrive
account. Do note that for your files to be uploaded to your cloud service, the phone has to have a stable internet connection. We can only retrieve files that were backed up or synced with your account.
