    Hello folks, I'm in a bind here, hope some can help me.I decided to create a Microsoft account for my 9 year old to use in our Xbox. In all it's wisdom, Windows 10 decided to associate this limited child account to my local administrator account. Now my administrator account is severely limited in what I can do, it even changed the keyboard layout and I cannot even change the keyboard layout to the correct one.Well, I've seen a lot of places that Account Info is used to move to a local account, except it does not show since this is a child account. I added my own Microsoft account to the compu

    Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

    Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

    I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

    It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

    EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Revert a child account to a local account in Windows 10 :(

    Can a local user be changed to a child account?

    Hello,

    I'm trying to see if there's a way to change a local account (standard user) to a child account so it can be managed in the Microsoft Family?

    I tried to follow the steps here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...1-c8f8cca1d52f

    but there's no option for "family and other users".

    They do not have Microsoft accounts. Do I need to basically create a new child account at Windows setup?

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I did the following instead.

    I have another laptop, 2 weeks old, with Windows 10 Home on it.

    On that one, I tried the same steps with the child account, and got the exact same results.
