  1. Reverting back to windows 8.1

Good day everyone. I had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.

When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.

    :)

  3. Revert back to 8.1

The only alternative then is to do a clean Install or recover Windows 8.1 from an Image if one exists.

I can provide you steps for that if you wish.

    Reverting back to windows 8.1

Hi Kevin, welcome to the Ten Forums.

Reverting back to your previous OS, in this case Windows 8.1 Single Language, will restore it exactly as it was. All your installed applications and data is still there, exactly as it was before the upgrade.

  5. Hi,are you sure it will work? As I said the laptop came out with windows 8.1 and I did not wait for the upgrade to windows 10. I installed windows 10 from an installation disk. I still have the windows.old folder which is quite big

I would not post something like that if I wasn't sure. I don't post something like that just to get my post count increased *sarc.

You have 30 days time to revert back to your previous OS. My answer is valid if you revert during this 30 day period. After that you need to reinstall the original OS.

Note that no matter which way you came to Windows 10, you will only be able to go back, if what you did actually was an upgrade. Not a clean installation, but an upgrade.

If you have in fact done a clean installation, then there will be nothing to go back to; you will then have to reinstall Windows 8.1 differently.

In this case the Settings app should show you the option to go back to Windows 8.1.

The Windows 10 upgrade may have uninstalled or replaced programs, but that does not affect, what you had in Windows 8.1. And according to Microsoft, the revert should restore the system as it was before. So reverting the OS should bring back what you had before.

I don't know, which accounts you had in Windows 8.1. However, there must have been an admin account. So in Windows 10, make sure that this account exists, make sure it still (or again) is an admin account and then remove the newly added accounts.

  15. On windows 8.1 I only had one account, and in windows 10 I only have this one account also (signed in with Microsoft account). Both of them are admin, and I did not add any new accounts. I only used one account which is still the only account I have ever used on windows 8.1 and windows 10
