Windows 10: Reverting from Windows 10 to Windows 7 isn't working

Hello, i have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 recently, and one day my pc crashed (black screen) so i had to force restart it (the button on the tower). After that, my Profile user got corrupted, and several issues (common for the Windows 10) appeared. (Like: Windows 10 start menu taskbar icons wont respond, Calculator no longer works (You'll need a new app to open this calculator) message, and the view in all the folders reverts to (details) no matter where i change it to (i had it on tiles, and every time i close the folder window and i reopen it, its on Details).
Anyway... i got sick of these problems, and the only solution i had was to create a new profile and abandon my current corrupted one. But i really want to avoid this option because its a new start over, and there are too much apps and programs that i have to reinstall, along with all the folders i have to transfer.
So i wanted to try to revert back to windows 7, and then re-upgrade to windows 10. That would fix the corrupted user. But it seems like there is another issue i have here. When i go to settings -> update & security -> recovery -> Go back to windows 7, and i start the process, my pc make 2 restarts and at the second one, it doesnt continue the downgrade, but it boots the Windows 10 again! It wont let me go back to windows 7. It just reboots...

Restore Windows 7 from Windows 10 upgrade

My computer, nor I are ready for the Windows 10 upgrade. It just isn't working for me. I have all the information needed to revert it back to Windows 7

Hey. I contacted Windows support and Alienware support. Apparently, the laptop isn't compatible with Windows 10. I reverted it back to Windows 7 and it works fine. Thank you for the assistance.

 

I have a similar problem
I looked in the 'winold' folder and all the subfolers. everything is there except all the folders are empty!
Looks like the win 10 upgrade failed to save the previous system, I am well within the 1month allowed to roll back but cannot!
Check your folders for content

OH GOD! you are right..... all the subfolders in the windows.old are there but they are all empty!.... I guess there is no turning back ha...

Run Disk Cleanup or any other cleaning tools ? Unless you have the disc or a recovery partition on drive, maybe possibility.

 

Already done that, and tried many other things. This User is corrupted, i need to abandon that. Now i am facing a new problem... "All Heil Windows 10!!!" I log on at my administrator account, to add a new one and move on, eresing my past one. At All Settings -> Accounts -> Other Users, When i click on the Add someone else on this PC, the cursor seems to load, but doesnt respond afterwards. I can only add a user from cmd. Windows 10 is a big fail -_- All these features, and they are all buggy. I can only control my windows from Run & CMD

 

Already done that, and tried many other things ! Meaning no recovery partition you are aware of and you have no windows 7 discs ? If this is true i think might as well do a reset of Windows 10 at this point then. Also get an ISO

No i dont have the disks any more, and the latest recovery i have is too old, so useless. Why do i need the ISO file for? Isnt the resert windows 10 just enough?

 

Yes, reset will do a clean install, but good have the disc for in case of, say good uses as a repair disc. So can download it if you want. What did you mean by recovery too old ?

 

I had two computers come up running and they have been running for 7 weeks now (with only W10 annoyances, no disasters). A third computer spanned about 100 hours of my time (including research and "waiting for W10 install to crash" time) and took 9 attempts to get the system up and running (and it has run satisfactorily for about 4 weeks). Several times it tried to revert to my W7 system but failed miserably. Even when it did revert, the system looked nothing like what it looked like before I tried the update. I still keep the W7 image around for all 3 computers "just in case".

Obviously, the horse is already out of the barn for these folks but anyone reading this thread that hasn't upgraded yet would be very wise to make a full image backup of his system, on external media, before performing the upgrade. (Be sure you understand how to do that, including building a boot disk so you can restore the image should the need arise.)
