Windows 10: Reverting WIndows10 S if I don't know the login credentials for the MS account

Hi - I just started working for a non-profit that has an HP laptop running Windows 10 Home S. I want to revert it to plain Windows 10 Home, so that we can install software not found in the MS Store. The license is digital, so I expect that I'll be required during the reversion to login to the MS account that originally installed or registered this copy of Windows. However, as is often the case in non-profits, no one so far seems to know what those credentials are. I'm thus wary of starting to revert the system back to plain Windows 10 until I'm sure it can be done.


What options do I have, short oi buying a new copy of Windows and doing a clean install?

Login not accepted for my MS Account

Let me explain, again, what I have experienced:

• I use my MS account to unlock this computer. No problem doing that
• I attempted to use other apps requiring the MS login, like Outlook, or even this forum, and it would not accept the very same credentials I used to unlock the computer
• I used my wife's MS account to login to this forum so that I could seek help
• I have tried resetting my MS account twice, and that did not work either.

I would appreciate suggestions OTHER than wha I have already tried

We would like to know if you have received any email when you say Microsoft gave me an option to change the login credentials on my Windows 10 computer

Again, please be informed that in order to change the Login ID credentials, you need to access you Microsoft Account at the first place, in this case which would be recovering the Microsoft Account(MSA).

I suggest you to follow the recommended link which was earlier suggested.

Getting back into your Microsoft account if it’s been compromised


Once you recover your MSA, you can refer to the below steps to change the credentials.

• Login to https://login.live.com.
• Specify the current Windows live ID and password in the available fields and click
  Sign in.
• On Microsoft account page, make sure that Overview category is selected from the left pane.
• From the right pane, click Rename account under Account summary.
• From the right pane of the next page, make sure that Create a new email address radio button is selected under
  Rename your Microsoft account.

windows accounts, login credentials and skype

I'm lost with win 10 accounts, how many are there? anybody understand this madness?
here's what I'm experiencing if this makes sense and anybody cares to follow
1.have win 10 pro laptop that was auto update from win 7 pro, was a local acct admin of course things were just fine, create accounts for IIS testing, etc
2. after update suddenly the login changed and my admin account somehow changed and now had to login with my 'microsoft' account, call it L: [email protected]. I got that when my company had me use an office 365 account and had to create a ms 'account'
3. got a new laptop win 10 pro. this lets me have a local account login, whats the difference here? can I change my old laptop t to have my local admin account login back?
4, not sure if I have a separate ms account plus an office 365 account at this point?
4.created a skype account with a username, b.name and funded it
5. forgot skype password, so going through skype password reset dialogue it somehow changed to my ms account?
at the end of the reset it tells me I have successfully changed my L: [email protected] account and not successfully changed my skype account password????
6. sure enuf going to login to skype with newly reset password, its not accepting it, telling me there is a problem with my ms account???? WTF???
