revising an existing document and saving the revisions

Often I bring to the screen a windows 10 existing document for rereading and revision. After I've made the revisions, I click save. On my former windows system, that would save the corrections. On windows 10, this often leads to "Save as". I have to write in the title of the document, say where I want it saved again, then click on save. The next message is that that document exists; do I want this document to replace existing document. I click okay. Then the next message often is that it can't be saved , but will be repaired next time I log in. I click on "okay". When I log in again, the revisions are not saved. I have many glitches with the windows 10, and I'm slowly dealing with them. I can't seem to solve this one. How do I work on an existing document and save changes or additions I've made.

    :)

  2. the revised document shows message -You do not have permission contact Administrator to obtain permission.

I am using Windows 10 updating existing documents, but it is not allowing me to save.

the revised document shows message -You do not have permission contact Administrator to obtain permission.

I notice the files are in read only, yet in properties tick box it is clear ??

  3. WORD problem

A new Word problem. I cannot revise a document and then save it as I receive an error message that says the file is "Read Only" The file properties show that is not "ReadOnly" of the problem. I'll sen this and follow up with part II

If I try to save it to a new title, the error message says that name is taken. So, I cannot write a new document or revise one and save.I' using Word 2000 from Office 2000.

Please specify what kind of 'Windows 10 document' are you talking about, an Office document, txt pdf ? You should, on a R-click have a 'Save' and a 'Save as' dialog.

My reply disappeared - not sure if it was posted. I'm working on an office document and I do have "save" and "save as" options. If I click "save" I get the window marked "save" at the top, but I have to fill in the title and where to save it again. Then I get "This document already exists; do you want to replace the existing document?", then the message that they have to repair it but that will be done when I open the document again. The revisions are not saved when I open it.

Here is what I always do.......................

    Let's say I am revising document A.
I finish the revision > right click at the revised document > click Save As > navigate to the folder where document A is > click document A > The title will be automatically entered into File Name box. I do not have to retype the title > then I'll click Save.
I will be told that there is already a file of that name and if I want to replace it > I'll click Yes.
    That's it.

I don't know about the Repair part. It never happens to me.
