Windows 10: RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise server) 8 beta

Hi folks and especially geeks !

for those that want to try out RHEL 8 beta now -- free but for support you are on your own it's available for public download at https://red.ht/2DmPZbn

This is for INTEL/AMD cpu's.

CENTOS 8 - the next centos release will be based on this and will probably be released in the summer but you can try out the RHEL 8 (Enterprise server) now -- remember it's a beta and a server so installing 3rd party stuff might not be so easy as you are used to.

Should be good fun to try this in a VM though.

Switching possibly now from CENTOS to RHEL as server on VM


Hi folks.

As it's FREE to join Red Hat developer program I thought I'd do it and download RHEL server (Red Hat) -- RHEL servers are in use in more places than any where else. CENTOS is derived from RHEL but since the server is FREE I thought I'd go for it.

I'm particularly interested in their Mobile software stuff - interesting Developer Forums. Note though as a private user you don't get support from RHEL -- that's paid subscription - but the Forums are helpful enough.

Interested to see what the difference is between RHEL and CENTOS -- should be minimal but if I want to try developer stiff it's best to be on an identical system.

Testing as a VM first hosted on W10 Pro.

I cannot boot into macOS Sierra after partitioning (disk utility) for a Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation

I use a 2014 MacBook Pro 13" and I cannot boot into macOS Sierra after partitioning (disk utility) for a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) installation. I was already running Windows 10 via bootcamp. Now when the computer starts and I hold the option key, i see Mac and Linux Os. I can boot into RHEL but booting into Mac results in a prohibitory sign.

Please help. I lost the only backup that I had.

 

MS SQL Server Preview on Linux

Microsoft releases SQL Server Preview for Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Have it installed in a Ubuntu VM and was able to connect to it via SSMS 16.5 from Windows, though it only has partial functionality. Downloading 17.0 RC1 now to see if it's a better fit.
